Purple, with its symbolism of mysticism and utopian ideals, has long been a favorite of hippies. This season that bohemian spirit is still there, but it is refined with flower-petal shades, fluid fabrics and shapes that are soft yet precise. The hue looks particularly fresh worn head-to-toe in jumpsuits or frocks, or used as a surprise color pop — as in a diaphanous dotted swiss maxi-skirt styled with a simple white tee and easy trench.
Bangs of all kinds update the season’s key hairstyles. Whether short or eyebrow-skimming, the look is full, not wispy. The short fringe/long hair combo recalls the alluring style of ’50s Beatnik chanteuse Juliette Greco, and new clip-on pieces offer the look without the commitment.

Paris designers indulge in the joys of color this season. Although each hue is beautiful on its own, it is the placement of whitened pastel against pigmented bright against soft cosmetic tone that gives these palettes their modern edge.

The beloved YSL motif is back, heralding a return to logomania. Logos appear in fanciful applications in Paris this season — beaded, bejeweled, as ironic logo-tape or cleverly fashioned into a signature heel.
