THE RIGHT FLUFF

Fur trim is no longer just for outerwear. As seen in the current Norman Norell exhibit at The Museum at FIT,  the plush detail adds a sense of luxury to suits, blazers, sweaters and woven tops. The fur can be real or faux, and is seen in natural tones or dyed pastels. Extra-deep fur cuffs look new, but designers also use it to encircle a pullover’s entire forearm or apply it in sections along the sleeve.

WASHED & WAISTED

One of the new jeans looks to emerge in the Pre-Fall collections is the high-waisted light-wash. The leg shape varies from an A-line flare to a low-crotch stove-pipe, but the waist sits at the natural waist or higher, often with a button-fly that emphasizes the slim-hipped, ’70s fit. Allover washes look newest, but there is some placed sanding for worn effects. Hems are raw or deeply hemmed.
