ATH-LUXE

Tom Ford kicked off New York Fashion Week last night with a collection that seemed to draw from his own archives at 90s Gucci and St. Laurent, as well as from the iconic 80s styles of Claude Montana and Thierry Mugler. While it’s easy to slide into kitsch when referencing that era of decadence and discos, Ford’s collection managed to bring out the elegance inherent the oversized shapes and sharp shoulders. A lovely palette accented with mirror finish silver made it all contemporary, and the activewear silhouettes interpreted in satins and leathers showed that comfort, polish and sex-appeal can co-mingle nicely.
