Futuristic glamazons stalked the Vuitton runway last night, appropriately staged at the soon-to-open as a hotel TWA Flight Center, designed by Eero Saarinen in 1962. Futuristic films often have a look that blurs the line between 40s noir and space-age (think Sean Young with her Victory Roll hairstyle in the original Blade Runner of 1982), and Ghesquière seemed to pick up on that Joan Crawford-meets-Barbarella aesthetic. There were strong shouldered silhouettes, capelet details, sporty corsets and mod ring-pull zips, grounded by satin active-influenced pants and easy elastic-waist mini-skirts. The look is right in line with our FW20 trend tale Marvel Noir.
